Nha Trang
Lyokha is back in Nha Trang
Alexey is back in Nha Trang. We have known each other since I lived there: we lived in the same building and spent time together. Later he left Vietnam. Now he has returned and is inviting us to Palma’s.
Lyokha is a professional cook. I want to visit with Artur and Alisa, introduce them and see what he is doing now. Our return to Nha Trang is gradually filling up with actual people to meet.))
The restaurant turns out to be in the north, on Phạm Văn Đồng, across the road from the sea. That is the area where we are considering accommodation. If we stay nearby, we could call in during a walk.
I cannot judge the cooking yet — I have not tried it. But I would like to see him.
General
A route where you can change your mind
There are still months before we leave. I want Artur and Alisa to receive more than a finished list of places they will be taken to.
They can look at photographs, open links, ask and compare. Sometimes they will want to go at once. Sometimes they will say it is uninteresting, then change their mind after another photograph or detail.
Our family mode has individual interest marks for that. Each person answers independently. Diary readers do not see the assessments.
A majority does not determine the route. Fishing may stay for Artur even if someone else is not waiting for it. Safety, budget and transport remain adult responsibilities.
I want us to understand what everyone is looking forward to. Then three people with reasons of their own will travel to Vietnam, rather than a route designer with two passengers. That conversation can begin now.
Saigon
Yes to the Mekong. But which trip?
Alisa is interested in the Mekong and a floating market. At first it seemed we only needed to choose a delta excursion. The same word on a brochure soon stopped meaning the same journey.
One operator offers a day in My Tho and Ben Tre, or two days with a Can Tho night and Cai Rang market. The first is much cheaper, but does not list the market we want. These are not two prices for the same wish.
The second format is currently closer to our question: an overnight stay and a clear morning on the water. It is not selected. We want to understand today’s market rather than expect an old promotional image.
Phu Quoc is no longer compulsory. We can build the Mekong part for its own sake: the experience first, then travel and nights. A convenient sales chain need not become our route.
